About the job: Financial Controller

Purpose:

The key function of this role is to analyse financial information and implement effective strategies to enhance overall business performance. Responsible for the preparation of management accounts and various reports, while overseeing general accounting procedures and practices within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support the CFO & Treasury Accountant
2. Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth
3. Provide accurate management reporting to aid decision making
4. Produce month-end and year-end journals
5. Prepare monthly management accounts and other financial reports such as budgets
6. Present reports to senior management for business decision making
7. Contribute to annual budgeting and planning processes
8. Develop strategies to reduce business costs
9. Advise on the financial implications of business decisions
10. Manage capital expenditure
11. Produce financial statements including P&L accounts, cash flows, variance analysis, and commentaries
12. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations
13. Review and improve accounting processes and practices for efficiency
14. Develop and oversee financial procedures, identifying opportunities for improvement
15. Control income and expenditure, ensuring alignment with budgets
16. Communicate financial information across all organizational levels, including non-finance staff
17. Analyze and manage financial risks within the business

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 5-7 years of experience in a similar role within the industry
• Experience in budgeting and forecasting
• Experience in preparing financial reports and statements
• Experience with CargoWise software
