Job description

Red Ember Recruitment is looking for a Financial Controller reporting to the General Manager. The position involves leadership of the Finance and Accounting division for all Hotel operations. As a member of the Management Team, the Financial Controller is expected to demonstrate excellent financial controls, including analytical and accounting skills such as forecasting, revenue management, capital expenditure planning, budgeting, and preparing monthly reports for Owners and Head Office. Knowledge of IT systems and providing guidance to the payroll division will also be part of the responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Preparing annual budgets and strategic plans with input from other Managers and Shareholders.
  2. Completing year-end reporting in accordance with Group policies.
  3. Preparing flash profit and revenue reports.
  4. Preparing monthly management accounts, forecasts, and Head Office reports and returns.
  5. Preparing Board Reports.
  6. Forecasting and preparing budgets, viability studies, and cash flows.
  7. Assisting the General Manager with commercial and operational decisions, including legal, insurance, and capital expenditure issues.
  8. Maintaining and ensuring the integrity of all reporting systems.
  9. Adhering to Group financial policies and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  10. Liaising with external service providers.
Requirements
  1. Minimum of a relevant Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or similar professional qualification.
  2. Alternatively, appropriate leadership experience as a Financial Controller with at least 7 years in a hotel environment.
  3. Demonstrated business auditing and commercial acumen.
  4. Working knowledge of POS, PMS systems, and accounting packages like AccPac.
  5. Strategic focus and strong leadership skills.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Problem-solving skills, integrity, and attention to detail.
  8. Knowledge of statutory requirements and tax legislation.
