Job summary

A leading logistics company is seeking a Financial Assistant based in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will have a BCom or BTech in Accounting, with at least 3 years of experience in an accounting practice. Job description

Our client, in the logistics industry, is currently looking to employ a Financial Assistant to their team, based in Port Elizabeth.

Requirements :

  • BCom or BTech in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting practice, with an understanding of financial department operations.
  • Computer Literate :
  • QuickBooks Online.
  • Datatim (Training provided in-house).
  • Excel (Advanced level required — vital criteria).
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities :

  • Process interest and bank charges from bond, loan and HP statements.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and process monthly depreciation for trucks, trailers, vehicles and equipment.
  • Reconcile monthly amortisation schedules for vehicles and process related interest and finance charges.
  • Create and maintain reports of fixed assets and HPs.
  • Reconcile diesel statements to QuickBooks and statements of purchase.
  • Track and process sales accruals.
  • Perform VAT calculations and reconcile VAT for multiple companies.
  • Compile and analyse monthly management accounts for multiple companies.
  • Assist other departments with monthly working Excel sheets.
  • Compare, analyse, reconcile and report on differences between daily management reports and monthly management accounts.
  • Reconcile intercompany loan accounts, internal customers and internal suppliers.
  • Assist auditors by providing required information for monthly audits.
  • Analyse physical stock counts and compare to QuickBooks stock figures. Investigate discrepancies.
  • Compile information for annual audits.
  • Create formulated Excel sheets to automate processes.
  • Provide assistance to the admin department during staff absence or peak seasons.
  • Assist the Financial Manager, COO and CEO with additional requirements.
