Financial Assistant

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Financial Assistant to support the daily operations of a fast-paced finance department within a well-established company based in Pietermaritzburg. This role is ideally suited to a proactive individual eager to make a meaningful contribution to the continued growth and success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily processing of bank statements and performing reconciliations

• Handling sundry and ad hoc payments

• Managing daily integration postings and correcting integration errors

• Processing weekly wages using Pastel Payroll

• Compiling wage costing statistics

• Assisting with provident fund withdrawals and claims

• Preparing and reviewing cell phone reports

• Submitting medical aid returns

• Maintaining monthly attendance records and updating leave registers

• Preparing monthly Stannic finance schedules and standard journals

• Providing general support to the Accounts Department

• Assisting with ad hoc finance projects

• Reporting directly to the Accountant

Requirements & Skills

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

• Professional communication skills in English

• Proficiency in accounting systems (Pastel experience is advantageous)

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

• Experience in payroll and general finance functions
