Job summary

PayJoy South Africa is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the accounting and FP&A teams. You will work with the data warehouse to build, validate, and automate reports that underpin month-end, year-end close, and audit processes.

The role requires strong SQL and Python skills, solid accounting knowledge, and the ability to translate complex data into clear financial insights for stakeholders across finance and management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant quantitative field.
• 1–3 years in financial analysis, reporting, or accounting-support role.
• Working knowledge of accruals, amortisation, depreciation, provisioning/impairment, reconciliations.
• Experience with lending, credit, or asset-financing is an advantage.
• Proficient in SQL and Python for data analysis and reporting.
• Experience with Excel for financial modelling and analysis.
• Experience with Hex, Looker, Power BI or Tableau is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Extract, clean, and transform data from the data warehouse to produce reports for accounting and finance.
• Build and maintain month-end and year-end close reports including portfolio roll-forwards and impairment schedules.
• Support depreciation and amortisation modelling and reconciliation to accounting records.
• Assist with schedules and documentation for audits with data lineage explanations.
• Reconcile warehouse outputs to general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
• Develop dashboards and automated reporting pipelines to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
• Document data sources and report logic for auditable, repeatable outputs.
• Support portfolio analytics and KPI reporting for finance and management.
• Respond to ad hoc data requests with well-documented outputs.
• Flag data quality issues and coordinate with data/engineering to fix at source.
