Job Description
We are seeking a Financial Analyst for our client's supermarket chain in Angola. This position plays a crucial role in analyzing financial data, monitoring trends, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. You will work closely with various departments to assess financial performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to the achievement of business objectives. Salary: US$2000 NETT pm + expat benefits (housing, transport, medical insurance, return flights, etc.)
- Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of financial data including revenue, expenses, and profitability metrics. Utilize financial models and forecasting techniques to identify trends, variances, and potential risks.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Collaborate with department heads to gather relevant information and ensure alignment with strategic goals. Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, providing timely updates and recommendations.
- Performance Monitoring: Setup and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales, margins, inventory turnover, and operational efficiency. Identify areas of improvement and work with management to implement corrective actions.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports for management review, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction or optimization. Conduct profitability analysis for product lines, departments, and store locations.
- Capital Investment Analysis: Evaluate proposed capital investments, including store expansions, renovations, and equipment purchases. Assess financial feasibility, conduct ROI analysis, and provide recommendations to senior management.
- Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor performance, and economic factors affecting the supermarket industry in Angola. Use market research insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Ad-Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management. Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives, process improvements, and business expansion opportunities.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CMA) preferred.
Proven experience as a financial analyst, preferably in the retail or supermarket industry.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 2-3 years in a finance/managerial role.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and performance metrics.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
Fluency in English. Portuguese is a major plus. Knowledge of other local languages is a plus.
