Financial Modelling Specialist – Mining Industry

Are you a highly analytical financial professional with a passion for precision and strategic impact? An exceptional opportunity is available for a Financial Modelling Specialist to join a forward-thinking team in the mining sector, where your work will directly influence key business decisions and long-term planning.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this pivotal role, you’ll develop and refine robust financial models that support both operational and strategic initiatives. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to ensure accurate forecasting, insightful analysis, and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain complex financial models for annual budgeting and life-of-mine planning
  • Conduct benchmarking and process analysis with operational teams
  • Prepare and update financial data, including budgets, income statements, and forecasts
  • Deliver cost-saving insights and performance-enhancing strategies
  • Produce structured reports highlighting financial health, trends, and risks
  • Support investment decision-making through accurate forecasting and scenario analysis
  • Ensure models meet the requirements of investors, sponsors, and financial partners
  • Engage in new business development, including tenders and infrastructure finance projects
  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as government, legal advisors, investors, and financiers

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc in Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 7+ years' experience in financial modelling within the mining industry
  • Proven track record as a Financial Analyst or Modeller with forecasting expertise
  • Deep understanding of financial regulations, taxation, and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced numerical accuracy and data interpretation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BCom or BBusSc in Financial Mathematics, Accounting, or Statistics
  • Experience in project or infrastructure finance
  • Management experience is advantageous
