Job Purpose

Direct management of academic delivery and overseeing the management of academic programmes under the supervision of the principal.

The mandate includes managing the operational efficiency of the academic team and overseeing the student support function.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Creates and manages the implementation of the campus academic delivery plan with Programme Managers, Teaching and Learning Specialists, Educational Technologists, Lecturers, Junior Lecturers, Information Specialists, and Assistant Information Specialists.
  2. Quality Assurance: Implementation of academic policies, approval of students' academic requests, controlling assessment procedures, approval of lecturers on IIE programmes.
  3. Surveys: Conduct student, lecturer, and technology surveys.
  4. Peer Review Process: Oversee the implementation of peer review schedules and monitor plans.
  5. Class Visits: Oversee the class visit process.
  6. Graduation: Manage the graduation process, including tracking of documents.
  7. Student Discipline Management: Oversee student code of conduct, address disciplinary issues, monitor compliance, facilitate staff workshops, and promote campus safety.
  8. Student Orientation Management: Plan and implement orientation week, develop materials, support new and international students.
  9. Programme Management: Schedule timetables, recruit lecturers, manage assessments, monitor budget, and oversee library services.
  10. Student & Lecturer Support & Development: Manage student wellness, bursaries, and staff development.
  11. Personnel Management: Oversee appointments, performance, and discipline.
  12. Training & Development: Foster a learning culture and implement post-training activities.
  13. Strategic & Tactical Planning: Develop academic plans, promote research culture, and ensure targets are met.
  14. Reporting: Submit department reports timely and assist in compiling operational reports.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in Education, Business Management, or relevant field.
  • Honours in Education or Business Management preferred.
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education or equivalent is ideal.
  • At least 3 years in student administration or academic support.
  • 5 years of operational management and academic experience, with 3-5 years managing in a tertiary education setting.

  • Knowledge of South African higher education systems and regulations.
  • Effective time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change, work under pressure, and in teams.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and accountability skills.
Working Hours & Salary

Classes are scheduled from 08h00 to 17h00, Monday to Friday. Salary is market-related.
