Job summary

A well-known Accounting and Consultancy firm is looking for a Financial Accountant in Stellenbosch. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of accounting experience and holds completed SAICA, SAIPA, or CIMA qualifications. Responsibilities include managing client portfolios, performing reconciliations, and processing payroll. Competitive remuneration between R240,000 to R420,000 per annum based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ accounting and finance experience in a firm environment.
  • Professional qualifications such as AGA(SA), PA(SA), etc., would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients from inception to statutory reporting.
  • Perform various reconciliations (Bank, Salaries, Debtors, etc.) within due dates.
  • Calculate and submit VAT201 returns and prepare reports.
  • Process weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payroll.

Job description

Well-known and respected Accounting and Consultancy firm is searching for a Financial Accountant to join their team at their offices in Stellenbosch.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ accounting and finance experience, preferably in an accounting firm environment, with completed SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA. A candidate with the intention of a long-term commitment would be viewed favourably. Solid experience working with Xero, SimplePay or similar programs will be an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Manage a portfolio of clients from inception, through monthly accounts to management accounts, financial statements, variance analysis, and statutory reporting.
  • Process bank and other entries on behalf of clients in relevant financial software.
  • Perform various reconciliations (Bank, Salaries, Loan accounts, Debtors, and Creditors) within allocated due dates.
  • Load creditor and other payments for approval/authorization by relevant parties.
  • Raise debtor invoices as necessary.
  • Allocate expenses to correct categories.
  • Maintain fixed asset register and reconcile assets to the general ledger.
  • Ensure all financial expenses have supporting documentation.
  • Calculate, complete, and submit VAT201 returns, preparing reports to communicate VAT due to clients.
  • File all supporting documents monthly.
  • Generate management reports for review by the Accounting Manager.
  • Prepare trial balances suitable for the compilation of annual financial statements and for auditors.
  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll.
  • Submit EMP201 returns.
  • Calculate and submit bi-annual EMP501 returns and generate IRP5 returns annually.
  • Calculate and submit annual COIDA returns.
  • Handle company secretarial administration, including timely submission of annual returns and beneficial ownership disclosures at CIPC, as well as registration/deregistration of companies and amendments to company secretarial information.
  • Understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks required by the company.
Qualifications and Experience :
  • Tertiary degree, diploma, or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years’ accounting and finance experience in a firm environment.
  • Completed SAICA, SAIPA, or CIMA articles.
  • Professional qualifications such as AGA(SA), PA(SA), etc., would be an advantage.
  • Experience working on Xero & SimplePay is advantageous.
