A leading company is seeking a Temp Financial Accountant based in Pietermaritzburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for key financial activities including preparing balance sheets, managing tax returns, and supporting the Finance GM. The role requires a BCom degree and at least three years of relevant experience to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as a Financial Accountant in a corporate environment.
• Honours in Accounting preferred.
• Proficient in CaseWare and SARS Efiling.

Responsibilities

• Prepare balance sheets and bank reconciliations.
• Draft annual financial statements.
• Monitor and report on cash flow.

Job description

Our client is seeking a Temp Financial Accountant to join their team.

Responsibilities

• Perform balance sheets and bank reconciliations
• Review creditors statements / reconciliations and ensure suppliers are paid on time
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports for management
• Monitor and report on cash flow (past and forecast)
• Use CaseWare to prepare annual financial statements
• Check accuracy of wages and salaries
• Approve payments on the banking system
• Prepare and submit legal tax returns on time including :
• Monthly VAT returns
• Annual income tax returns
• EMP201 and EMP501 returns
• Assist with budget preparation and forecasts
• Manage the general ledger accounts on the ERP system
• Assist with the completion of external audits
• Drafting of annual financial statements
• Handle any financerelated projects or tasks that come up
• Support the Finance GM with managing financial risks and special assignments

Requirements

• Grade 12 with Mathematics
• BCompt / BCom in Accounting or Finance (Honours preferred)
• At least 3 years of experience as a Financial Accountant within a corporate environment
• Experience on SARS Efiling CaseWare Sage People 300 and Syspro
