A well-established client in the FMCG sector seeks a Financial Accountant to join their team in Pretoria. The role involves accounting responsibilities, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The ideal candidate must possess relevant qualifications and at least five years of experience, with strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial computer systems.
Our client in the FMCG industry, based in Irene (Pretoria), is seeking to employ a Financial Accountant to their team.
Requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric Certificate).
Tertiary qualification in Accounting Sciences.
Accreditation with SAIPA, SAICA, or CIMA.
Minimum of 5 years' proven work experience in Accounting.
At least 2 years’ experience in a senior accounting role.
Experience in the retail industry would be an advantage.
Proficient in financial computer systems and Microsoft 365 (Excel at an advanced level).
Knowledge of SAGE Evolution and Meat Matrix is advantageous.
Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong organizational and leadership capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries including payroll and assets.
Analyse sales and inventory trends and report financial performance.
Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management.
Handle VAT, PAYE, and income tax calculations.
Approve banking transactions and manage beneficiaries.
Forecast and manage monthly cash flow and report weekly figures.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and query resolution.
Support external financial audits and draft financial statements.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management for finance staff.
Maintain employee discipline and promote wellness and motivation.
Present financial performance reports to the board and store managers.
Evaluate return on investment for existing and new stores.
Assist in annual budget preparation and board reporting.
Implement and maintain financial systems including POS and SAGE.
Identify and rectify procedural weaknesses in retail operations.
Conduct store visits for audits and risk assessments.
