Job description

SUMMARY :

Our client is looking for a detail-driven and hands-on Immediate Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team.

POSITION INFO :

A private equity and investment holding company based in Johannesburg, South Africa, founded in 2003. The company has strong leadership, a broad investment mandate across industrial, educational, software, and infrastructure sectors, and a commitment to social impact. It is known for its financial acumen and role in promoting black economic empowerment.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of key accounting functions — from month-end close and general ledger integrity to compliance, reporting, and stakeholder management. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small, collaborative environment and enjoys hands-on work.

Our client is a values-driven business where your contribution will be visible and meaningful. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, broaden your skills across multiple finance functions, and be part of a supportive, close-knit team.

Duties :

  • Manage creditors and debtors — from processing invoices to reconciliations and collections.
  • Oversee payments, ensuring accuracy, VAT compliance, and adherence to payment policies.
  • Handle month-end processing, reconciliations, accruals, management accounts, and IFRS-compliant reporting.
  • Prepare VAT reconciliations, provisional tax submissions, and liaise with SARS and consultants on compliance matters.
  • Support payroll administration, FSCA compliance processes, and external audit requirements.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, accurate records, and effective stakeholder relationships.

Job Experience & Skills Required :

Qualifications :

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • BCom (Accounting) degree

Experience :

  • Completed external audit articles.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience with Sage Pastel / Sage One and solid IFRS / IAS knowledge.
  • Tax knowledge is beneficial.

Skills & Competencies :

  • A self-starter who works well independently and in a team.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and willing to step in wherever needed.
  • Strong attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to deadlines.
  • Analytical thinker with a growth mindset.
