Job Description
Title: Junior Financial Accountant (German Speaking)
Location: Remote in Cape Town
Working Hours: 8am-5pm
Daylight Savings: 9am-6pm

About Our Client

Our client is a leading choice for filling specialist and management positions in the construction, finance, and real estate industries. Founded in London in 2001, they have grown to over 200 employees across 9 locations in Europe and the USA, with approximately 80 employees in Germany. Their head office is in Berlin, and they have additional offices in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart.

To expand their dedicated team, they are looking for a Junior Financial Accountant (German Speaking) to join them.
Responsibilities include:

  1. Document and analyze financial data.
  2. Prepare and present relevant financial information.
  3. Independently post all business transactions, including:
    • Accounts payable
    • Accounts receivable
    • Assets
    • Bank transactions
    • Credit card transactions
    • Travel expenses in DATEV (CDG and CTS)
  4. Handle invoicing, dining, and advance sales tax returns.
  5. Prepare and review payment runs.
  6. Maintain master data and account records.
  7. Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial statements according to HGB, in collaboration with the external tax office and UK colleagues.
  8. Serve as a contact person for employees, customers, suppliers, auditors, and authorities.
  9. Support weekly cash flow updates.
  10. Participate in projects and provide information to other departments.

Requirements

  1. Completed commercial training with relevant qualifications in financial accounting or a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  2. Relevant professional experience in financial accounting or similar areas preferred.
  3. Good knowledge of HGB (German Commercial Code).
  4. Proficient in common MS Office applications, especially Excel, and accounting software (ideally DATEV or Xero).
  5. Good business fluent proficiency in German, both written and spoken.
  6. Good business fluent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  7. High degree of loyalty, teamwork, and sense of responsibility.
  8. Independent, committed, and self-reliant work ethic.
  9. Excellent organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
