Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Policies and Procedures Compilation and Review: Keep up to date with prevailing International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Tax legislation, and Companies Act. Interpret regulatory requirements for implementation in the company. Establish and/or review policies and procedures related to financial reporting and regulatory compliance for approval by CFO.
  2. Financial Accounting and Reporting: Liaise with group Shared Service Centre (SSC), tax consultants, internal and external auditors, and company secretarial. Coordinate and manage activities of various stakeholders towards internal, group, and external reporting. Partner with Group Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions.
  3. Account Reconciliation and Reporting: Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled according to policy. Provide management with reports on unreconciled items and follow-up actions. Consolidate reports such as Monthly Review Meeting (MRM), Significant Events Reporting, Consol DB, and Executive Summary in line with stakeholder requirements.
  4. Financial Statements and Compliance: Prepare financial statements. Monitor and ensure all company reporting requirements are met. Ensure statutory reporting compliance for all business units in South Africa on a timely basis. Stay updated with technological advances and accounting software for financial purposes. Seek and implement process improvements leveraging company’s Shared Services.
  5. Transaction Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor daily transaction processing for data accuracy. Conduct financial analysis of contracts for profitability. Complete Forex analysis and submit to Financial Controller (FC). Analyze administration fee costs for accuracy and cost containment. Prepare and analyze trading commodity positions and forex exposure reports.
  6. Operational and Process Improvement: Prepare monthly trading profitability reports with trend analysis. Conduct transfer pricing exercises to ensure arms-length transactions. Identify opportunities for process and control environment improvements and recommend actions. Ensure all transactions comply with policies and procedures.

COMPLIANCE AND CONTROL

  1. Ensure monthly VAT is prepared and submitted to SARS. Ensure all monthly returns are submitted to SARB timely. Comply with OECD transfer pricing requirements. Submit CIPC returns after Financial Statements are signed off. Adhere to applicable legal, regulatory, and governance requirements.

STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

  1. Provide leadership in accounting and financial reporting activities. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders involved in reporting, auditing, secretarial, and tax processes. Collaborate on planning and key activities.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  1. Fill vacancies with qualified employees. Train and schedule training to ensure competence. Manage team performance and discipline, ensuring productivity and policy compliance.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: BCom Honours Degree in Financial Accounting
  • Experience: 3 years post-Article experience in manufacturing. SAP experience advantageous.
