Job summary

Sea Harvest in the Western Cape seeks an experienced finance professional to provide clerical and administrative support for general ledger accounts and assist with administration across the SA Fishing Division. You will ensure accurate financial processing, compliance with policies, and support senior finance staff with reporting, ad hoc tasks, and budgeting activities.

Role requires strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems; 5+ years of GL entries, cashbook and intercompany

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and a BCom in Accounting.
• Minimum 5+ years' experience in GL entries, cashbook and intercompany transactions.
• Strong Excel skills and financial proficiency.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Business Central.
• Knowledge of VAT and tax compliance.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Review and post cashbook entries and oversee monthly reconciliations.
• Prepare and manage ad hoc EFT payments.
• Prepare income tax schedules and VAT submissions.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation calculations.
• Prepare monthly journals including provisions, prepayments and intercompany postings.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts and ensure balance at month end.
• Assist senior finance staff with reporting and budgeting analyses.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

To provide clerical and administrative support in respect of general ledger accounts and assist with the administration of all companies within the SA Fishing Division and related entities. The role ensures accurate financial processing, compliance with company policies, and supports senior finance staff through reliable reporting and ad hoc financial tasks.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Cashbook & Bank Reconciliations

• Review and post cashbook entries for Rand and CFC accounts
• Oversee monthly bank reconciliations across entities

Payments Management

• Prepare and manage ad hic EFT payments accurately and timeously

Tax & Statutory Reporting

• Prepare Income tax schedules
• Ensure correct calculation and accounting for VAT 201 Submissions
• Maintain compliance with all applicable VAT legislation and regulations

Fixed Asset Accounting

• Maintain fixed asset register
• -Fixed Asset Cost Reallocations
• -Disposals
• -Yearly Useful Review to done timeously and accurately
• -Yearly Fixed Asset Verification to done timeously and accurately
• Calculate depreciation timeously and accurately
• -Accurate Fixed Asset Reporting
• -CAPSTA timeously and accurately

General Ledger & Journals

• Prepare monthly journals including
• - Provisions/Accruals
• - Prepayments
• - Accurate calculation of interest and recording thereof
• - Item/Inventory Journals for the Diesel Rebate
• - Accurate allocation of petty cash and credit card journals
• Ensure proper accounting treatment of transactions

Reconciliations & Intercompany

• Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure that intercompany accounts balance at month end

Financial Compliance & Administration

• Ensure compliance with policies and prepare accurate documentation
• Yearly Insurance submissions completed accurately

Ad Hoc Finance Support

• Assist senior finance staff with reporting and analysis

Budgeting & Forecasting

• CAPSTA Reporting
• -Monitor actual performance vs budget
• -Provide financial analysis to support business decision-making

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics; BCom Degree with Accounting major
• 5+ years' experience in GL entries, cashbook and intercompany transactions
• Strong Excel skills, financial proficiency, ability to work independently and in teams
• Experience working with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Business Central or similar.
• Knowledge of VAT legislation and tax compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
