Financial Accountant

An exciting opportunity is available in our Finance department for somebody who is passionate about Finance and has decided to follow a career in the financial field.

POSITION INFO:

Requirements

1. B. Com degree with accounting subjects
2. Minimum 5 years work experience in an accounting environment, of which 2 years should be in a manufacturing environment
3. Computer literate, specifically in Excel
4. Auditing experience will be beneficial
5. Confident and independent person who is a fast learner
6. Ability to use own initiative and work with minimum supervision
7. Able to work flexible working hours (overtime when/if needed)
8. Able to work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines

Duties

1. Preparing month-end accounts up to Management Accounts
2. Journaling standard monthly expenses into the accounts
3. Maintaining the company's fixed asset register and calculating the depreciation charges
4. Finance agreement and rental validation, control and reconciliation, and input of all related accounts to the general ledger
5. Determining prepayments and accruals figures to be accounted for
6. VAT control, including reasonability tests and reconciliation between VAT return and general ledger
7. Investigating unexpected variances in the Income Statement
8. Setting up and maintaining monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
9. Preparation of lead schedules for all relevant balance sheet accounts at financial year-end
10. Overall reconciliation of the accounts to ensure that all costs and revenues have been accounted for
11. Preparing and controlling paperwork for foreign payments
