Financial Accountant required in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

A well-established travel and tourism organisation with an international footprint is looking for a skilled Financial Accountant to manage the full accounting function across multiple Southern African entities.

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing supplier and cash flow processes, and assisting with budget planning and forecasting.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in multi-currency environments, VAT and PAYE submissions across regions, and cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and consultants

Minimum Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Financial Accounting
  • Experience with cashbook management (ideally in travel and tourism)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced spreadsheets)
  • Working knowledge of Accpac (advantageous)
  • Solid understanding of VAT and PAYE in South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting:

  • Maintain cashbooks for South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia
  • Handle forex transactions and prepare weekly cashflow reports
  • Make payments to suppliers and manage supplier relationships
  • Oversee collections of outstanding debt
  • Review work of debtors and creditors clerks
  • Process all monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Liaise with consultants for direct client receipts
  • Maintain records of all advance deposits
  • Assist the Financial Manager with budgeting and forecasting
  • Submit VAT and PAYE returns for all relevant entities
  • Prepare project analysis reports for the Financial Manager

Teamwork:

  • Build strong relationships across international offices
  • Communicate and implement best financial practices
  • Provide support and assistance to colleagues, even outside normal hours when needed

Learning and Development:

  • Keep up to date on tax, legislative, and currency exchange developments
  • Expand product knowledge and engage in training or office visits where feasible
  • Enhance communication and interpersonal skills
