FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

ROLE PROFILE / LOCATION:
A Permanent Financial Accounting Role in the Financial Services Industry (Diversified Investment Sector) based in Northern Johannesburg (Gauteng).

Duties & Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:
My Client, a large, diversified investment holding company, is in search of a suitably qualified and experienced individual to assume the above-mentioned role within their Group.

The successful incumbent will provide technical accounting and tax-related services to the Group and their service providers to achieve high-level reporting requirements.

They will be responsible for the financial reporting of the business and the preparation of annual separate and consolidated financial statements following IFRS and relevant legislation.

The role includes providing technical tax and IFRS opinions on the impact of investment transactions.

An incumbent in this position will have to assist the Group Manager Finance in carrying out their financial accounting responsibilities in areas ranging from budget preparation to financial reporting and the development and maintenance of internal control policies and procedures.

CRITERIA / REQUIREMENTS:

1. Qualified Chartered Accountant – CA(SA)
2. A minimum of 1 year's article experience in the financial services industry (MUST HAVE AUDITED INVESTMENT COMPANIES DURING ARTICLES)
3. Technical understanding and keen interest in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
4. Understanding and implementation of SA Taxation, Companies Act, and Management of Audits
5. Maintaining financial records, analysing balance sheets and general ledger accounts
6. Experience in preparation of financial statements using CaseWare and budgeting
7. Understanding of Hyperion, Sage X3 ERP system and SARS e-filing
8. Solid knowledge of Tax legislation, Procurement Policy and BBBEE
9. Must be highly analytical and detail-oriented with excellent time management, quantitative, communication (written, verbal & presentation skills), and problem-solving skills
