POSITION INFO :

The Southern African Fruit Terminals (SAFT) Group of companies is a well-established and reputable cold storage operator that provides management solutions for cold storage of fruit and other perishable industries.

Beyond its local footprint, SAFT is proud to be part of the SEA-invest Group in Belgium. SEA-invest is one of the world’s largest terminal operators for dry bulk, fruit, and liquid bulk. The group has established a worldwide reputation in the field of stevedoring, transport, warehousing, and other port related activities. SEA-invest is active in no less than 25 ports spread across two continents and is integrated in a great number of industries.

The position reports to the Manager and is based at SAFT Atlantic cold store facility in the Durbanville area.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensuring accurate processing of expenses to correct General Ledger accounts and departments.
  • Creating new ledger accounts in the General Ledger.
  • Performing intercompany reconciliations.
  • Maintaining and updating the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Preparing fixed asset purchase approval documents.
  • Overseeing the full creditor’s function.
  • Issuing of purchase orders for approved orders.
  • Updating of monthly electricity schedules.
  • Daily capturing of bank transactions, ensuring that general ledger accounts are kept up to date.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Preparing petty cash reconciliations.
  • Preparing inventory reconciliations.
  • Performing VAT reconciliations.
  • Preparing and submitting the VAT201.
  • Monthly analysis of fleet cards and allocation of fuel cost.
  • Assisting with the preparation of supporting documents for relevant SARS audits.
  • Assisting with audit file preparation for both internal and external auditors.
  • Tasks are not limited to the above and the incumbent should be willing to assist with ad hoc duties as it may arise due to business requirements.

QUALIFICATION :

EXPERIENCE :

  • Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in an accounting role within a medium sized organisation.

SKILLS & COMPETENCE :

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Computer literate with experience in Excel (intermediary to advance).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
