Job description

JOB PURPOSE :

To provide clerical and administrative support related to general ledger (GL) accounts and assist with the administration of all companies within the SA Fishing Division and related entities. Assist with ad hoc requests from Senior Finance staff.

Prepare and provide accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS :

Duties include but are not limited to :

  1. Review and post cash book entries for both Rand and CFC accounts; oversee monthly bank account reconciliations for entities in the Sea Harvest Group.
  2. Prepare and manage ad hoc EFT payments.
  3. Prepare income tax schedules for tax return disclosures for all entities in the Sea Harvest Group.
  4. Maintain the Fixed Asset register, working closely with Operations. Handle all tasks related to Fixed Assets, including depreciation and write-offs.
  5. Prepare monthly general journals, including provisions and prepayments.
  6. Maintain monthly GL reconciliations, including intercompany recharges.
  7. Prepare VAT returns.
  8. Perform other ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics.
  • BCom degree with a major in accounting.
  • Preferably 5 years of experience in GL entries, cashbook management, and intercompany entries.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good decision-making abilities.
