Financial Accountant Opportunity

Capital International Group is looking for a hardworking individual to join our finance team.

As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the preparation of financial and management reports, providing valuable insights and information.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Finance & Payroll Accounts preparation (for the regulated and non-regulated entities).
  2. Ownership of the month end process and deliverables for assigned subsidiaries, leading to the submission of accurate monthly management accounts in a timely manner.
  3. Monthly reviews of all subsidiary management accounts, including accurate variance commentary and budget vs actual analysis.
  4. Assisting the Group Financial Controller with the production and analysis of consolidated management accounts.
  5. Preparation of annual company tax returns, including liaison with the relevant authorities.
  6. Assistance with the preparation of subsidiary financial statements.
  7. Become subject matter expert for SAGE Intacct accounting system and contribute actively to the development of this tool.
  8. Sign off monthly and quarterly customer invoices.
  9. Prepare service charge accounts for CILSA Investments and CILSA Solutions for the relevant tenants.
  10. Assist and maintain KPIs in different areas of the business.
  11. Prepare quarterly financial resource returns and alert Group Financial Controller with any potential liquidity issues.
  12. Preparation/review of VAT returns and online submissions.
  13. Assist Group Financial Controller with any ongoing projects.
  14. Assisting with the preparation, review, and reconciliation of monthly accruals and prepayments.
  15. Maintenance of fixed asset registers.
  16. Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
  17. Preparation and assistance in the monthly payroll process.
  18. Issuing of client invoices, maintaining aged receivables and related matters.
  19. Data capture and reconciliation of all revenue.
  20. Preparation of cash flows and related analysis, including cash flow modelling.
  21. Assistance in capital adequacy requirements and other regulatory reporting.
  22. Coordination and assistance with the annual audits and liaising with auditors, both locally in South Africa and internationally in the Isle of Man and Jersey.
  23. Assisting our Finance Business Partners with any ad-hoc requests.
  24. Utilise financial acumen to provide financial insight to business partners and senior leadership by studying operational issues, applying financial principles and practices.
  25. Work together effectively with junior accountant to develop great working relationship and efficient division of tasks.
  26. Constantly find ways to improve processes using efficiency tools, demonstrate a willingness to understand the latest technology (including AI) and how we can utilise this in our finance workflows.
  27. Audit preparation: Ensure accounting entries are clear throughout the year and that the thought processes are documented, to ensure a smooth audit.
  28. Assist auditors with queries.
  29. Play a key role in, or ideally take the lead in, preparation of financial statements.
  30. Keep up to date with UK GAAP / IFRS developments and changes.
  31. Maintain liquidity: Continually review company cash flow position and advise senior management of any expected cash flow difficulties.
  32. Supervise and assist team to ensure accounts remain in credit (being conscious of DD payments).
  33. Full review of payroll preparation, release, and reporting.
  34. Responsible for reviewing reports but not limited to Management Accounts, Customer Invoices, Payment Authorisation.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  1. Qualified financial or chartered accountant (ACA or ACCA or SAIPA or SAICA) with relevant qualification.
  2. 1-2 years' experience in a similar role or completion of accounting articles.
  3. Knowledge of reporting and working with multi currencies.
  4. Knowledge of working with multiple companies.
  5. Previous experience in leading a team either through Team leadership / Management leadership.
  6. IFRS knowledge.
  7. Strong financial control skills / standards / principles.
  8. Previous experience in preparation of full trial balance and Annual Financial Statements.
  9. An excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
