General Reinsurance, Cape Town Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Financial Accountant in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

Key Responsibilities
This is a challenging and rewarding role that reports to the Financial Manager.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Processing and reporting of management expenses
• Monthly reporting of technical results
• Managing cash-flow
• Management of accounts payables
• Reconciling general ledger accounts
• Completion of annual expense budgets
• Completion of monthly VAT returns
• Processing of salary and other month-end journals
• Maintaining the fixed asset register
• Processing of reinsurance technical accounts
• Completion of certain sections of quarterly US-GAAP and other reporting packages
• Completion of regulatory returns
• Various ad-hoc responsibilities from time to time

Qualifications & Experience

• CA (SA)
• No reinsurance experience needed, although this would be an advantage
• SAP experience would be an advantage

Requirements:

• Very good IT skills (Excel and Word)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• An enquiring mind
• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a team, deal with people at all levels and in all areas of the business
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Ability to prioritize, while remaining flexible to deal with changing work demands
• Excellent organisational skills combined with a high level of attention to detail
