About You

Dalberg is currently seeking a motivated and entrepreneurial candidate to join its operations team as Finance Senior Manager. This is a full-time role that will be based in Kenya, South Africa, or Rwanda. The Finance Senior Manager will play a key role in running the Finance function for ~50 staff in the Africa region.

Reporting to the Regional Finance Committee and liaising with colleagues across the globe, this role will manage a growing team of ~2-3 professionals in Finance function. This role is both strategic as well as implementation focused.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Accounting, or Finance
  • Professional Certifications, e.g. Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Certified Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or equivalent
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and working with senior management stakeholders
  • Experience in a strategic position in professional services companies such as consulting, law or accounting firms, or at least in a multinational company
  • Experience working in Africa and/or other developing contexts
  • At least 7 years of professional experience

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other financial regulations
  • Financial modelling and analysis
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel (pivot tables, macros, etc.)
  • Forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis

What You Will Do and How You Will Grow

The Senior Finance Manager for Africa oversees the financial performance and health of the region by implementing budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance efforts. This role maintains alignment with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS), supervises internal controls and audits, and conducts analysis to support business decision-making. In addition, the Senior Finance Manager directs Dalberg’s intra-region and global financial processes and operations, which includes the finance team’s execution of transactions and reporting across entities. This role also manages and develops the regional finance team, identifies and implements process improvements, and ensures timely and accurate financial reporting to senior leadership.

Financial Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support Dalberg’s growth objectives in Africa
  • Direct the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with regional and global goals
  • Analyze and develop financial insights and recommendations to the regional and global management teams for strategic decision-making

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities
  • Prepare and present financial performance and cash flow projections, drawing on business development pipeline and projected utilization data

Finance Team Management

  • Supervise and mentor finance team members in the region, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Manage and coordinate financial operations across multiple countries, ensuring consistency and compliance with local regulations
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial processes and systems

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure and enforce adherence to financial regulations and standards in all countries within the Africa region
  • Ensure timely, accurate reporting to regulatory bodies, tax authorities, and other stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing appropriate controls and safeguards
  • Monitor changes in financial regulations and economic conditions affecting the region and recommend and implement changes as needed
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, including finance team counterparts in other regions and GSS, to align financial objectives with business strategies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities

Project Management

  • Direct and/or support cross-functional projects that impact financial operations and strategy
  • Provide support in other areas of Dalberg Africa regional operations as the business, operations, and needs evolve
