Job summary

Merchant West Holdings in Cape Town is seeking a dual-function Finance role combining full financial accounting with payroll oversight at group level.

The role splits roughly 75/25 between end-to-end accounting for designated entities and strategic payroll governance, using Sage 300 HRIS and working with the CFO.

Candidates should have 10+ years of experience, a BCom in Finance/Accounting, advanced Excel, and a track record of audit-ready financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in a similar finance role with full-function accounting.
• Experience with payroll systems and statutory reporting.
• Proven ability to deliver Annual Financial Statements.

Responsibilities

• Own full financial accounting for designated group entities, from invoice processing to AFS.
• Manage day-to-day accounting functions including bank statements, payables, receivables, and GL.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure GL integrity.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and Trial Balances.
• Prepare annual financial statements in line with standards.
• Oversee payroll for MW Holdings using Sage 300 HRIS, ensure statutory payments and year-end processes.
• Collaborate with CFO, auditors and stakeholders; support ad hoc analysis.
