The focus of the role is to manage the teams responsible for head office accounting and the accounting of payroll and borrowings for all Life Healthcare hospitals in Southern Africa.

Function Finance/Administration Facility Financial Services Centre, Dunkeld, Johannesburg Position Finance Manager | Income & Expenses Introduction

A permanent vacancy exists for a Finance Manager| Income & Expenses at the Financial Services Centre, based in Dunkeld, Johannesburg, reporting to the Financial Services Centre Manager. The focus of the role is to manage the teams responsible for head office accounting and the accounting of payroll and borrowings for all Life Healthcare hospitals in Southern Africa.

Critical Outputs
  • Assure that accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with LHC accounting policies, chart of accounts and related accounting principles and practices
  • Responsible for accurate head office and corporate services accounting including
    • Financial Analysis and Reporting (actual vs budget vs prior year etc)
    • Cost management including identify and advise opportunities and potential challenges
    • Stakeholder engagement (internal and external) to ensure effective financial management and alignment of services
    • Budgeting and Planning
    • Manage all financial aspects of corporate services. Corporate services include Human Resources, IT, Facilities Management, Procurement, National Credit, Financial Services, Pharmacy, Regional functions
    • Recovery of centralized/centrally managed costs and corporate services costs including compliance with relevant SARS and BURS regulations and with internal agreements, policies and governance
    • Balance sheet management including review of and reporting on all monthly analyses and reconciliations
    • Fixed Asset Register maintenance including alignment to IFRS and financial monitoring of capex projects
  • Responsible for accurate payroll accounting and timeous payments for the Group including
    • Payroll payments to employees and third parties
    • Payroll entries in the ERP system
    • Relevant SARS submissions
    • ESOP calculations and related payments
    • WCA ROE submissions
    • Budgeting
    • Reporting and analyses
    • Continuous engagement with the HR Payroll department and the Tax department to ensure alignment and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Responsible for accurate accounting of borrowings and interest – internal and external – and the timeous payment there-of including compliance with agreements
  • Responsible for daily treasury management and Support to the Treasury Manager
  • Management of staff members including training and development
  • Initiate and manage ad hoc projects
  • This is a diverse role so a “can do” attitude is required
