Full Job Description: Financial Manager

Job Type: Half Day

Pay: R30,000 per month, depending on experience

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Financial Manager to lead our finance team.

This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with at least 3 years of accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and expertise in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online.

As part of our IT business, you will play an important role in heading up the finance department, maintaining accurate financial records, providing accounting & tax advisory, and supporting the company's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Accounting & Financial Records: Full accounts function up to Trial Balance and Financial Statements compilation. Accounting advisory to management. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles. Process and reconcile bank transactions, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including invoicing, expense tracking, and payments. Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and categorized.
  2. Month-End and Year-End Processes: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts. Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Liaise with external accounting officers regarding annual financial statements.
  3. Payroll, VAT & Tax Compliance: Provide strategic tax advisory. Process payroll, ensuring accurate recording of salaries, benefits, and deductions. Submit PAYE returns, including EMPs & IRP5s. Prepare and submit bi-monthly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with SARS regulations. Maintain compliance with tax requirements and submit Income Tax & Provisional Tax returns. Manage director remuneration and loan accounts.
  4. Financial Reporting & Planning: Generate financial reports to provide insights into business performance, including cash flow analysis. Support budgeting and forecasting processes by maintaining financial data accuracy.
  5. Stock & Fixed Assets: Assist with stock management and ensure stock procedures are followed. Maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
  6. Software & Process Management: Utilize QuickBooks Online and other relevant tools to streamline financial processes. Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements. Follow best practices in financial record-keeping and reporting.
  7. Statutory & Administrative: Ensure compliance with company BEE status. Manage employment contracts, customer contract schedules, and renewal registers. Ensure all contracts have valid signed agreements. Maintain document management systems.
  8. Ad-hoc Duties: Train junior staff in accounting functions related to purchase orders, stock management, and invoicing.
Person Specification:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in accounting, with knowledge of Payroll, VAT, and Tax. Post-article experience or recently qualified CA seeking a half-day role is preferred.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is essential.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks accurately.
