Financial accounting management
Manage, review and control Debtors (local + foreign), creditors (local, foreign, intercompany), cash book, bank recons, Balance sheet recons, good understanding of IFRS.
Reviewing the trial balance to ensure all journals are complete and that the trial balance is in line with IFRS requirements.
Responsible for Month-end processes including month-end checklists, preparing cut-off procedures, and finalization of Trial Balance.
Upload Trial Balance and supporting schedules to Hyperion.
Revenue reconciliations and month-end reporting, including reviewing and signing off month-end journals.
Discussing month-end results with the company executive team and answering any questions they have about the results.
Reviewing month-end balance sheet reconciliations and identifying reconciling items.
Cash flow management including weekly and bi-weekly cash flow forecasts, discussing with CFO and CEO, and identifying potential liquidity issues.
Analyzing monthly actual results against forecast and budget and documenting reasons for variances.
Reporting and contributing to management accounts pack, including adhoc reporting and analysis.
Managing intercompany reporting to ensure accounts balance with counterparts.
Compliance and internal control adherence to local and group policies, improving internal control environment.
Reviewing VAT calculations and ensuring timely submission of tax payments and compliance.
Banking responsibilities including managing relationships and approving vendor banking details.
Understanding of Annual Financial Statements (AFS) and preparing related schedules.
Meeting with customers or suppliers to discuss payment/documentation issues.
Supporting corporate financial accounting reporting and internal stakeholders.
Ensuring COA is mapped or up to date with Hyperion COA.
Backup for Management Accountant for key tasks and vice versa.
Accounts receivable and payable management ensuring no long-outstanding debtors & creditors.
Managing working capital within required group limits and discussing deviations with the Business Unit Controller.
Providing cost input for the income statement monthly forecast.
Monthly discussion of income statement forecast with the finance team and the executive team.
Preparing monthly balance sheet and cash flow forecasting.
Preparing the yearly budget for balance sheet accounts considering income statement budget information.
Fixed asset management.
Reviewing and recommending financial statements for sign-off by the CEO.
Managing year-end external audit preparation and discussions with auditors.
Assisting in BBBEE audits.
Providing technical and other training to the finance team.
Reviewing monthly payroll runs before releasing payments.
Reviewing and signing off APDP2 submissions to OEMs.
Liaising with external stakeholders including banks and regulatory bodies.
Ensuring compliance with IFRS and tax legislation.
Supporting operations departments with finance-related activities.
Managing banking relationships and ensuring mandates are current.
Meeting with customers and suppliers to discuss account issues.
Any adhoc activities as required by the global finance team.
