Job description

About Us

At Embelo, we’re dedicated to helping founders of consulting businesses start and scale efficiently. Backed by our UK-based investors and clients, we deliver exceptional client services to a growing group of UK businesses — combining technical expertise, South African spirit, and the latest in AI-powered services.

We have launched a new central operations function based within South Africa in order to underpin the running of a portfolio of UK based businesses. As part of this, we are now looking to build our leadership team to enable scaling of all end-to-end operations and development of our capabilities, whilst delivering this growth profitably and at pace. We believe it takes great people to grow great businesses. That’s why we’re building a culture that values innovation, curiosity, and getting things done with excellence.

About the Role:

As Embelo enters an exciting phase of growth, we are building our financial capability in Cape Town to ensure we scale efficiently and support a growing portfolio of diverse, fast-moving UK consulting businesses.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Finance Manager to lead our end-to-end finance processes, drive reporting accuracy, and support financial decision-making across TCN Cap and our broader network of companies. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, commercially minded, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

You will be instrumental in building robust financial infrastructure and controls, while also identifying opportunities to improve how we work — from billing cycles to cash flow visibility to broader financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Own and manage all end-to-end finance processes across TCN Cap and its portfolio companies, which are primarily UK based professional services businesses.
  • Oversee invoicing, billing cycles, accounts receivable/payable, cash flow, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and forecasts for internal and client-facing purposes.
  • Monitor budgets, track spend, and support effective cost management across the network.
  • Partner with operational and leadership teams to ensure financial clarity and compliance.
  • Work with external accountants, bookkeepers, and advisors to ensure accurate records and timely submissions.
  • Review and assess the valuation of companies and key indicators / KPIs and build financial models of portfolio companies to help shape key strategic decisions
  • Evaluate and advise on future financial support options for our companies, such as:
  • Funding options and financing routes (e.g. invoice factoring)
  • Government grants and funds etc.
  • Tax credits and processes (e.g. R&D)
  • Stay on top of local and UK regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend finance systems, tools, or AI-driven solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and financial insight to support decision-making and strategic planning.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

This role provides a unique opportunity for a proactive and driven individual. We are looking for applicants who have:

  • Solid financial management background with experience overseeing end-to-end accounting processes.
  • Experience in performance-led or commercially driven environments.
  • Excellent leadership and relationship building skills, with the ability to manage a diverse group of senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills with a data-driven/commercial approach to decision making.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently and collaboratively across teams and regions whilst meeting time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Experience preparing financial reports, managing budgets, and working with financial systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of UK and South African finance processes and regulatory environments.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and reporting skills.
  • Experience working with or supporting small-to-medium businesses or consultancies is a plus, especially with any venture capital or private equity funding experience.
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Honours or professional certification such as CIMA/SAIPA/ACCA/SAICA preferred).

Why Join Us?

At Embelo, you will work directly with UK founders and leaders while gaining exposure to international consulting operations in a supportive, close-knit team that values initiative, growth, and quality delivery. You’ll have the chance to shape processes and build your operational management skills while contributing to a business that believes in developing talent and growing sustainably.

If you are organised, proactive, and excited by the opportunity to support UK founders while working in a dynamic South African team, we would love to hear from you.
