Overview:
DataProphet is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the executive management team in managing capital, cash flow, and financial controls across both local and international operations. The role also offers an opportunity to contribute to strategic financial projects, including transfer pricing studies and international expansion initiatives.

About the Role:
Your key responsibilities would involve:
Financial Operations & Compliance
- Manage and oversee monthly payroll processes for all entities, including EMP201 submissions, U-filing returns, and bi-annual EMP501 submissions.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all statutory returns, including VAT (bi-monthly VAT201), PAYE, Income Tax (bi-monthly provisional and annual returns), OID, and annual financial statements for two South African entities and a consolidated group.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant financial regulations, supporting exchange control compliance and legal obligations.
- Responsible for managing South African and international bank accounts, including overseeing account administration, reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with cross-border banking regulations.
Accounting & Reporting
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of monthly accounting records, focusing on proper timing/cut-off, accruals and provisions, job costing, and appropriate allocation between balance sheet and income statement items.
- Oversee bookkeeping for 3 Xero accounts, including monthly reconciliation of receipts and payments, monthly journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, and preparation of monthly consolidated Spotlight reports.
- Conduct accounts payable reconciliations and manage payment runs.
- Compile and present meaningful monthly management reports to the executive team, including budget comparisons, dashboards with key metrics, and actionable financial insights to guide decision-making.
- Analyse financial information and trends to support strategic business decisions and shareholder reporting.
- Support the preparation of monthly board packs and the budgeting process, as well as quarterly forecasts and half-year reviews.
Strategic Financial Management
- Manage group-level capital and cash flow, including international entities, with a focus on effective cross-border intra-company accounting and controls.
- Support project and product costing, cost management initiatives, and implementation of financial strategy.
- Drive the implementation of key strategic projects such as transfer pricing studies and other financial/legal initiatives.
Audit & Annual Reporting
- Liaise with external auditors to ensure efficient audit processes, aiming for audit completion within three months post year-end.
- Compile annual financial statements for two South African entities and the consolidated group.
Customer and Legal Support
- Support the invoicing process and contract management with both new and existing customers, ensuring legal terms are appropriately reviewed and documented.
- Oversee and manage outsourced legal and bookkeeping agencies in support of group operations.
International Operations Support
- Assist the executive team with the implementation and execution of the internationalisation strategy, ensuring continued operational efficiency in Cape Town.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as an Accountant or Financial Manager.
- Proven experience in planning, budgeting, and executing budgets.
- Strong understanding of key financial business processes and functions.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in either the startup space or manufacturing industry is advantageous.
- Proficiency in modern accounting software and automation tools, especially cloud-based systems.
