About the job Finance Manager

Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Remote

Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (SA Time)

Salary: R60,000 - R70,000 per month

Job Description:
Our client seeks a smart, motivated, and detail-oriented Finance Manager to develop and maintain efficient financial processes. This role is integral to ensuring financial integrity and operational excellence. Working closely with the Finance Director and outsourced bookkeepers, the Finance Manager will gain exposure to all aspects of the finance function. This is a broad, hands-on role with a clear pathway to the Financial Controller level.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Financial Processes: Manage outsourced bookkeeping support, ensuring accurate and timely transaction recording and accounts payable processing.
  • Monthly Close & Reconciliation: Lead the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions and account reconciliations.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure VAT, Sales Tax, and Payroll Tax filings are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Cash Flow Management: Update weekly cash flow reports to support working capital management.
  • Financial Systems Integrity: Maintain data accuracy across finance systems, ensuring reconciliations and updates align with internal policies.
  • Process Improvements: Identify inefficiencies and implement enhancements to optimize financial operations.
  • Financial Reporting & Audit Preparation: Assist in financial statement preparation and audit processes.
  • Payroll Management: Oversee the monthly payroll process.
  • Management Accounts & KPI Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Policy & Procedure Development: Contribute to the documentation and refinement of financial policies and procedures.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Gain exposure to financial planning and analysis, collaborating with the Finance Director to model performance and manage variances.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a finance role, preferably within a high-growth technology business or practice environment.
  • ACA, ACCA, and CIMA qualified or near qualification.
  • Proactive and hands-on approach with strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain responsiveness during peak periods.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Passion for technology and a track record of developing efficient financial processes.
  • Strong analytical mindset, proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Experience working with multiple teams and managing cross-functional relationships.
  • Solid transactional finance experience, particularly in accounts payable.
  • Some exposure to management accounts with a desire to develop further in this area.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Xero.
  • Nice-to-have: Background in marketplace or retail businesses with a large supplier network.
