Job description

A global pharmaceutical company has a 12 month contract position for a Finance Learner (Bookkeeper).

Job Summary:

The Learner provides administrative and financial process support to various teams in South Africa. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting Finance Back-office with finance-related tasks. In general, the Candidate is to provide administrative support in the Vendor Creation and Maintenance process and assist the Finance Controller with Financial processes such as month-end close activities. Learner should carry strong interpersonal skills with ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable Support (Procure to Pay Requestor):

  • Support Finance and Support functions with PTP creations.
  • Prepare, process and upload documentation packs into SAP Fiori system for Purchase Order (PO) creation.
  • Prepare PO invoice processing packs for submission to invoice processing team.
  • Receive and review supplier invoices and route for internal approvals prior to payments.
  • Investigate invoices that are blocked for payment and resolve any queries from the invoice processing team.

Vendor Creation and Maintenance Processing:

  • Populate and / or review vendor creation and maintenance applications for processing.
  • Submit vendor creation or update requests on the relevant systems.
  • Resolve queries and ensure creation and update requests are followed up on until completed.

Month end processing and Ad-hoc Administration:

  • Annual and monthly support in financial processes such as annual audits, month-end close activities including accruals and journals.
  • Review of Open Purchase Orders accrual details, adjustment of accruals where required.
  • Support the finance team in ad-hoc responsibilities and collaborate with team members on finance projects and initiatives.

Education & Experience:

  • University degree: BCom Finance / Accounting.
  • Fluency in English and preferably one other language.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Team player.
  • Detail oriented.
