Job Purpose: To support the Group with cost control and containment, working capital management, and financial accounting.
Review and analyze the Division's financial information to provide effective finance reports, ensure compliance with reporting cycles, and adhere to IFRS and other group financial regulations including PFMA and Treasury.
Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Management :
- Develop long-term strategy for the business unit aligned with the Division's strategy.
- Translate Division's strategic objectives into a Business Unit Plan.
- Monitor trends and benchmark best practices nationally and internationally for complexity, capability, and cost competitiveness.
- Contribute to the creation and review of financial policies and procedures.
Operational Management :
- Analyze costs, pricing, sales results, and Division's performance against budget and forecasts.
- Report deviations of revenue and expenses to the Divisional Executive.
- Produce management accounts analysis and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Perform spot checks and analyze financial statements for accuracy and benchmarking.
- Guide Divisional Management on budgets and forecasts, and facilitate process improvements.
- Provide commercial support and review cash flow forecasts and variance reports.
- Manage Project Accounting Department and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor sales forecasts, working capital needs, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Conduct training for Divisional Exco and Finance staff.
Governance & Audit :
- Ensure compliance with legislation (Companies Act, IFRS, PFMA, PPPFA, etc.).
- Evaluate and improve financial processes and internal controls.
- Coordinate audits, implement remedial actions, and ensure timely audit reports.
- Report on financial irregularities and ensure statutory and tax compliance.
- Provide accurate financial reports and interpret operational data for managerial decision-making.
Financial Management :
- Develop and manage budgets, control expenses, and seek cost reduction opportunities.
- Manage charging models and recovery processes from business units.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent, registered with SAICA or ACCA.
- Minimum 10 years' financial management experience in a medium to large company, including budgetary, management, and project accounting.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in business process improvement and comprehensive knowledge of IFRS, PFMA, PPPFA, VAT, and Company Tax regulations.
