Job summary

JK Abattoir, a leading poultry processing business in Potchefstroom, is seeking a Finance Controller reporting to the CFO. You will manage daily financial accounting, controls, and operational reporting to support financial objectives.

The ideal candidate holds CA(SA)/AGA(SA) or BCom with SAIPA/SAICA articles, 3–5 years post-articles, IFRS knowledge, and strong Excel/ERP experience.

Qualifications

• Qualified CA(SA), AGA(SA) or BCom with SAIPA/SAICA articles completed.
• 3–5 years post-articles accounting experience.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and SA tax familiarity.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP/accounting systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and GL maintenance.
• Oversee accounts payable, receivable and cash management.
• Prepare VAT, PAYE and statutory returns.
• Assist with annual financial statements and audits.
• Manage inventory accounting, production costing and stock reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Monitor internal controls and financial policies.
• Provide financial analysis and board reports to CFO.
• Coordinate with SARS, auditors and stakeholders.

JK Abattoir is a leading integrated poultry processing business committed to operational excellence, food safety, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. We are looking for a detail-oriented and commercially minded Finance Controller to join our growing finance team.

Purpose of the role:

Responsible for managing daily financial accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring effective financial controls, supporting operational reporting, and assisting management in achieving the company’s financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the general ledger.
• Oversee accounts payable, receivable and cash management.
• Prepare VAT, PAYE and statutory returns.
• Assist with annual financial statements and audits.
• Manage inventory accounting, production costing and stock reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Monitor internal controls, financial policies and fixed assets.
• Support the CFO with financial analysis, board reports and strategic projects.
• Liaise with SARS, auditors and other stakeholders.
