Controller – Finance CA(SA)

We are seeking a Controller, reporting to a Senior Manager within the Finance Division.

Apex is looking for a Finance Controller to join the group finance team, to serve as the legal entity controller for the Middle East. The role involves accurate accounting of legal entities and detailed review of costs to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the accounting records. The ideal candidate should have at least two years of experience and a recognized accreditation (CA, CIMA, CPA).

Key responsibilities:
The specific duties include:
  • Overseeing the timely month-end close process for multiple legal entities, ensuring compliance with group and company policies
  • Managing legal entity audits and ensuring timely submission of financial statements before regulatory deadlines
  • Overseeing the production of statutory financial statements
  • Ensuring the timely production of regulatory reports to maintain compliance with relevant capital requirements
  • Managing payment procedures to ensure proper cash management
  • Managing the annual budget process
  • Collaborating closely with the Country Heads and Local Managing Directors
  • Providing accounting support for billing and FP&A teams
  • Staying current with IFRS developments impacting the firm
  • Handling ad hoc requests as needed
Skills / experience:
Candidates should possess:
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and concepts
  • 0-2 years’ post-article experience
  • Proficiency with Excel, accounting systems, and IT
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Self-motivated, proactive, resilient, resourceful
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in English
  • Confidence in partnering with stakeholders and driving business engagement
Preferred:
Additional desirable qualities include:
  • Audit experience (not mandatory)
  • Interest in financial services such as fund administration or banking
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience with financial control mechanisms
  • US Tax experience
