Fruitways is a leading agri-business in South Africa. We specialise in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe.

FINANCE CLERK

We are looking for a professional, dynamic, and pro-active Finance Clerk with who can provide support to our finance team. Based in Somerset West at our Marketing office, reporting to the Compliance and Reporting Accountant. Responsible for ensuring accurate financial compliance, asset management, and accounting support aligned with Group and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare accurate VAT returns timeously in line with SARS requirements.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation for VAT claims, audits, and inspections.
  • Conduct internal diesel audits and support SARS audit processes when required.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and accurate Fixed Asset Register (FAR) in line with Group standards.
  • Capitalise assets timeously from Work in Progress in coordination with operational managers.
  • Reconcile FAR to General Ledger, ensure correct asset locations and update vehicle records across systems.
  • Support the accountant with capex forecasting and internal/external audit processes.
  • Assist with financial systems housekeeping and data maintenance across all financial systems, including Sage 300, BPM, and Bizview.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the finance team when necessary.

Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Diploma in accounting advantageous
  • Experience: 2 years relevant experience in a finance department
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills
  • Accounting software – Sage 300 or similar financial software advantageous
  • Knowledge of relevant VAT legislation and E-filing system advantageous
  • Understanding financial processes
