Junior Business Partner
Department: Finance
Accountable for specialist outputs, as well as initiating quality standards within defined work routines and policies.
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for providing accurate financial information and insights through ongoing, cross-functional engagement, enabling informed financial decisions. The position will report to the Regional Financial Manager and support them by working with various closely related variables across different functional areas, requiring an understanding of organisational processes, procedures, standards, and controls.
Key Accountabilities and Outputs
- Business Partnering
- Improve the impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance.
- Provide analysis and deliver insights linking financial reports to business strategies.
- Support the Regional Finance Manager by providing financial information and analysis on volume, revenue, variable and fixed costs, bills of materials, variances versus PY and budgets/forecasts, and corrective actions.
- Engage with line management to enhance finance understanding of the business, including cost and value drivers.
- Support regional budgeting and forecasting processes, assisting cost centre owners in making informed decisions.
- Contribute to periodic re-forecasts, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Translate strategic objectives into KPIs, financial targets, and forecasts.
- Build and maintain financial models for project and business performance forecasting.
- Support governance and control initiatives within the business.
- Prepare weekly and monthly income statements with variance commentary.
- Participate in monthly stock counts and reconciliations.
- Reconcile assigned GL accounts monthly.
- Assist the Regional Financial Manager with strategic projects and tasks.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards, and ensure compliance with legislation.
General
- Be familiar with relevant business policies, processes, and procedures.
- Assist with additional tasks beyond the job description as needed.
Additional Region-Specific Accountabilities
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree (3 years) / NQF level 7 (Essential)
- Up to 3 years operational experience
- Proficiency in MS Excel and SAP
Key Qualities
- Understanding of management accounting, revenue, standard costing, variance analysis, bills of materials, and cost types.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in an FMCG environment is advantageous.
