The Finance team has an opportunity for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract - Finance Business Partner in the North West.

About the Opportunity

Provide financial support to the Directorate Lead Finance Business Partner to ensure the preparation of accurate and robust financial reports and forecasts, with a focus of responsibility on people and non-people costs. The role supports provision of a full level of financial support to the Directorate senior and wider management team, including production of financial, managerial and regulatory reports.

The role is a key part of the financial control structure of Electricity North West, ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of the financial results, while promoting continuous improvement of financial processes and information provision.

  • Preparation and ownership of reliable and informative management and financial reports for the Directorate including appropriate variance analysis and cost performance analysis.
  • Bring financial performance challenge to the team, identifying exceptions and monitoring improvements. Ensure that the financial impact and financial considerations are effectively integrated within the overall management decision making process.
  • Preparation of, and review of, all financial regulatory reports for the Directorate.
  • Ensure implementation of, and compliance, with corporate financial policies and processes. Ensure balance sheet reconciliations and agreement of recharges with colleagues etc are carried out to the required Company standard.
  • Champion opportunities to improve processes impacting Finance within the Directorate. Ensure processes deliver reliable financial information in a format that enables business managers to drive performance.
  • Ensure that robust financial forecasting/budgeting activities are carried out for both a statutory and regulatory basis. Support the Directorate in the business planning process.
  • Maintain and support the standards of Health and Safety as agreed across ENWL ensuring a safe working environment for our staff and customers.
  • Contribute to the delivery of excellent customer service for both internal and external customers.
  • Work with non-financial colleagues to promote the understanding of financial, regulatory and other reporting requirements, and an understanding of the regulatory contract and outperformance opportunities.

Identify any areas of risk in line with corporate policies and controls and assess the quantum of risk to the financial performance of the directorate

Who We are looking for

  • Preferably educated to degree level.
  • Strong financial reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • Drive for change and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills with both financial and non-financial colleagues.
  • Qualified accountant.
  • Experience in business partnering/management accounting.
