Responsibilities

• Own budgeting, monthly forecasting and variance analysis for HR and Engineering.
• Manage people costs and headcount forecasting including salaries and recruitment costs.
• Partner with Engineering on cloud infrastructure, software costs and CapEx vs OpEx decisions.
• Build financial models for restructures, outsourcing, and build-vs-buy decisions.
• Deliver monthly management reporting with strong financial controls.
• Challenge assumptions and provide actionable leadership-ready insights.

Cape Town, CBD | Hybrid - 4 days in office | Contract (Potential to become permanent)

A large, fast-paced organisation operating in a complex, technology-driven environment is looking for a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to support two strategically important areas: people and technology.

This is a role for someone who wants to get close to the business. You’ll partner with relevant stakeholders, turning complex financial information into practical commercial insight, challenging spend and helping ensure investment decisions deliver real value.

This is an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for a permanent opportunity depending on business requirements and performance.

What you’ll be doing

• Own budgeting, monthly forecasting and insightful variance analysis across HR and Engineering
• Manage people costs and headcount forecasting, including salaries, benefits, recruitment costs and planned hiring
• Partner with Engineering on cloud infrastructure, software costs, technology investment and CapEx vs OpEx decisions
• Build financial models for restructures, outsourcing, build-vs-buy decisions and new investments
• Deliver accurate, insight-led monthly management reporting while maintaining strong financial controls
• Challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities early, and turn financial data into clear recommendations for leadership

What we’re looking for

• CA(SA) or CMA qualification
• 3–5 years’ post-articles experience, with at least 2 years in FP&A or finance business partnering
• Experience managing large, complex cost centres, ideally R100m+
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets modelling skills, including the ability to build a zero-based budget from scratch
• Experience with BI and ERP systems; exposure to technology or people cost centres would be advantageous
• Strong commercial judgement with the confidence to challenge stakeholders and influence decisions
• A curious, detail-focused approach with the ability to deliver quality work in a fast-moving environment
