Jhpiego is seeking a Finance Lead to oversee finance and administration teams across South Africa. The role involves training staff, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, managing budgets, and supporting strategic initiatives. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in NGO financial management, excellent interpersonal skills, and relevant qualifications.
Lead the finance and administration teams across the entire Jhpiego South Africa country program, including sub-offices.
This role involves training, supervising, mentoring, coaching, and developing staff capacities, recognizing outstanding performance, and identifying areas for development.
Foster a collaborative team environment. Propose and lead structural or management changes as needed to enhance effectiveness and productivity, delegating responsibilities appropriately.
Ensure the implementation of sound financial and administrative systems to support smooth operations across the country and sub-offices. Lead the development and oversee the implementation of financial policies and procedures in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ensure compliance with government, donor, and Jhpiego regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes to national laws and regulations, proposing amendments to Jhpiego policies as necessary. Lead by example to promote cost-effectiveness and efficiency in operations, identifying cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality.
Oversee preparations for audits and reviews, addressing any findings proactively. Support the senior management team in advancing strategic priorities and provide advice on financial and administrative matters.
Manage financial management, policies, procedures, and administration to ensure project compliance with award terms. Build capacity of project staff in award management and understanding of financial rates and regulations.
Resolve contractual issues, support grant management, and ensure the integrity of financial data in QuickBooks. Conduct regular compliance checks and oversee procurement and asset management processes.
Manage the IT team and support security policies. Collaborate with program teams to develop and monitor budgets, ensuring adherence to funding limits and prompt reporting of variances.
Identify strategic opportunities for program expansion, facilitate innovative approaches, and support strategy development. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Country Director to advance Jhpiego's mission.
Qualifications include a Master’s degree and/or ACCA or equivalent, with a minimum of ten years’ experience in financial management within an NGO setting. Expertise in US and host government regulations, financial procedures, and proficient computer skills are essential. Fluency in English and strong interpersonal, decision-making, and team-building skills are required.
