Job summary

Prudent HR Solutions is seeking a meticulous Quality Control Inspector for a premium auto body repair centre in East London. You will serve as the final gatekeeper, signing off on repaired vehicles before release to customers.

Role requires collision repair knowledge, panel beating, and automotive refinishing expertise. Applicants with non-automotive QC experience will not be considered. Road-testing is required and a valid Code B license is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on QC experience in collision repair/panel beating.
• Deep technical knowledge of automotive body repair, structural tolerances, spray painting, and vehicle assembly.
• Valid Driver’s License, unendorsed Code B (Code 08) or higher for road-testing.
• Relevant Autobody qualification is advantageous.
• Ability to read computerized diagnostic printouts and automated estimating systems (Audatex, TMS).

Responsibilities

• Final Sign-Off: conduct comprehensive bumper-to-bumper inspections to ensure repairs meet manufacturer and workshop standards.
• Quality Audits: inspect structural repairs, panel gaps, alignment, and assembly integrity.
• Paint & Finish Inspection: scrutinize paint and refinishing work for color matching, blending, overspray, dust nibs, runs and final polish quality.
• Job Card Verification: cross-reference the completed vehicle against the original job card and final invoice to ensure no authorized parts or repairs were missed.
• Rework Management: reject sub-standard work and route back to the relevant department for correction.
• Road Testing: conduct post-repair test drives to check for rattles, wind noise, tracking alignment, and proper functionality of components.
• Documentation: maintain QC logs, photographic evidence, and signed release forms for compliance and warranty purposes.
