Job description

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support and assistance to our Research Agronomists in performing field trial work related to crop science research. This position will be located in the Western Cape area. Functions include loading field equipment, general cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment, assisting in the execution of field trials, evaluating pests and diseases both in the field and at the research facility, collecting soil and substrate samples, and collecting samples for efficacy assessments. Assistance with labeling and packing of residue samples is also required.

The person will become part of our team but should be able to work independently. Key skills include the ability to work independently and in a team, good communication skills (verbal and written in both Afrikaans and English), problem-solving, methodical and systematic work approach, and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Tasks:

1. Assist in conducting field trials according to approved protocols.
2. Help generate reliable field trial data for product registration and effective use.
3. Maintain field trial equipment.
4. Accurately record all data captured.
5. Provide general assistance to the Research Agronomists.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma in agriculture or related experience.
• Code 08 driver’s license.
• Good time management and multi-tasking abilities.
• Hardworking and diligent with attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel long distances and be away from home occasionally.
• Own transport to commute to work.

Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
