Field Technician

To provide effective support to the SAF Brassica seed production team at Lutzville SAF.

Accountabilities

• Representation of Syngenta work ethics
• Equipment maintenance, including threshers, planters, ghrops, lettuce harvester, and trailers
• Stock and equipment control management
• Sowing of stock seeds for field production
• Setup and control of transplanting equipment during transplanting season
• Ensure plant health through spraying rogue plants, cutting flower heads, and conducting field trials
• Seed production seed intake management and control
• Management of pre-cleaning produced seeds
• Taking representative seed samples from all batches
• Packaging of seeds for export
• Cleaning of production facilities

Qualifications, Experience & Capabilities

• Minimum Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
• 5 years of experience in an agricultural work environment
• Teamwork and client interaction skills
• Basic knowledge of operating seed cleaning or agricultural equipment
• Basic knowledge of responsible agricultural chemical use
• Basic vegetable seed crop and production knowledge
• Forklift maintenance and handling experience
