Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual with a strong background in rotating equipment, including expertise in geared compressors, single-shaft compressors, gearboxes, and auxiliaries. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing Siemens Energy compressors in the Petrochemical Industry and Mines in South Africa and abroad. The role requires a strong emphasis on technical expertise, adherence to guidelines and procedures, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Perform minor, major, and preventive maintenance on Siemens Energy turbines, gearboxes, and auxiliaries.
  • Prepare the site, including tools, parts, and equipment required for work execution.
  • Document site activities through daily reports, field service reports, finding records, and measurement protocols.
  • Perform daily activities as part of a team or independently as assigned.
  • Identify technical issues promptly, address them, resolve customer concerns, and mentor support staff and junior technicians.
  • Align with Siemens Energy's EHS and quality standards.
What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or vocational training as a Mechanical Technician.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a field service environment.
  • Workshop fitting, machining, and tooling experience is advantageous.
  • Experience working at power stations, petrochemical plants, oxygen plants, and mines.
  • Profound understanding of technical equipment and ability to work with user documentation.
  • Analytical skills, technological affinity, and a proactive attitude.
  • Knowledge and experience with rotating equipment, especially steam turbines, gearboxes, compressors, and auxiliaries, are assets.
