Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a qualified Electrician for their Boksburg division. The role entails ensuring safety standards, testing, and maintaining medium voltage switchgear. Candidates must have a Trade Test or National Diploma and at least three years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Min 3 years post apprenticeship experience in Medium Voltage Switchgear.
• Qualified Electrician or equivalent certification required.

Job description

• Ensures health and safety protocols are maintained.
• Testing of all MV and LV related components and equipment.
• Accurate capturing of test results.
• Programme and operate sophisticated testing instruments and interpret the results.
• Compare testing results with OEM specifications.
• Do fine detailed adjustments to the equipment when possible.
• Capture test results accurately in detail.
• Do installation of new and old switchgear to OEM specifications.
• Do fault finding on existing equipment with and without schematic diagrams.
• Replace faulty components in circuit breakers and control switchgear.
• Fulfil standby duties.
• Operate and use all kind of power tools (grinders, drills, jigsaw to precession)
• Use all kind of hand tools.
• Assist supervisor on site with any relevant task.
• Oversee work done by assistants.

Minimum requirements :

• Trade Test or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Qualified Electrician.
• Min 3 years post apprenticeship experience within servicing, testing of Medium Voltage Switchgear.
• Protection knowledge will be added benefit.
