Job Title

Field Service Technician – Automation, Centurion, Gauteng

We are seeking a Field Service Technician - Automation to join our team.

You will be responsible for providing Metso's customers with professional technical support of its products.

The successful candidate will execute technical services at customer sites, provide feedback on customer satisfaction, technology/equipment/service performance, and production improvement activities related to the Market Area.

In this position, you will report to the Field Service Technician Supervisor.

This position is mainly located in Centurion.

Team You Belong To

You will join a team of Technicians that strive to effectively deliver a seamless experience, providing technical solutions that meet customer needs, supporting the sales team to enhance and build relationships, with downstream effects on sales realization.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as the Field Service Technician Team, to ensure a common understanding and application of technical and safety support and information to provide excellent customer service on Metso's equipment.

What You Will Do

You are responsible for:

1. Delivering technical services at customer sites
2. Basic customer problem-solving, providing operation and maintenance instructions
3. Service contract site visits - repair work; technical inspections and recommendations; preventive maintenance
4. Local installation and start-up support of pre-assembled products
5. Providing specific technical discipline work at site
6. Identifying sales leads and promoting services offering
7. Training customers on operation and maintenance
8. Delivering site reports, time sheets, and travel expenses reports
9. Ensuring proper fulfillment of QEHS rules and regulations
10. Performing safety inspections and job safety analysis
11. Using PPE correctly and reporting unsafe conditions

Who You Are

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering
• Background in mining, metals, or metallurgical processing
• Knowledge of Metso Analyser and Filter technologies (advantage)
• Ability to deliver professional technical reports, training, and presentations
• Ability to work independently and in high-pressure environments
• High communication skills; English fluency
• Team-oriented and responsible in building customer relationships
• Reliable, ethical, and professional
• Willing to travel up to 75%
