Job Title: Field Service Technician – Automation, Centurion, Gauteng
We are seeking a Field Service Technician - Automation to join our team. You will be responsible for providing Metso’s customers with professional technical support of its products.
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing technical services at customer sites, providing feedback on customer satisfaction, technology/equipment/service performance, and production improvement activities related to the Market Area.
In this position, you will report to the Field Service Technician Supervisor. This position is mainly located in Centurion.
Team You Belong To
You will join a team of Technicians that strive to effectively deliver a seamless experience, providing a “technical solution” that meets the customer’s needs, supporting the sales team to enhance and build relationships, with a positive impact on sales realization.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as the Field Service Technician Team, to ensure a common understanding and application of technical and safety support and information, to support and provide excellent customer service on Metso’s equipment.
What You Will Do
You are responsible for the following areas within your assigned responsibility:
- Delivering technical services at customer sites
- Basic customer problem-solving, providing operation and maintenance instructions
- Service contract site visits, repair work, technical inspections, recommendations, and preventive maintenance
- Supporting local installation and start-up of pre-assembled products
- Providing technical discipline work at site
- Identifying sales leads and promoting service offerings
- Training customers on operation and maintenance
- Delivering site reports, timesheets, and travel expense reports after jobs
- Ensuring compliance with QEHS rules and regulations of Metso Outotec and the customer
- Performing safety inspections and job safety analysis (JSA)
- Using PPE correctly and reporting unsafe conditions
Who You Are
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering
- Background in mining, metals, or metallurgical processing
- Knowledge of Metso Analyzer technology
- Knowledge of Metso Filter technology (advantage)
Hard and Soft Skills
- Proven troubleshooting skills
- Ability to deliver technical reports, training, and presentations professionally
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments
- High-level communication skills in English
- Teamwork and customer relationship building skills
- Reliable, ethical, and professional attitude
- Flexibility to travel up to 75%
