Job summary

A recruitment agency in South Africa seeks a Field Service Technician to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues. Responsibilities

  • Detect mechanical and electrical faults using specialized tooling and equipment.
  • Repair and maintain components and equipment.
  • Follow work assignments received as general oral or written instructions.
  • Determine the extent and nature of repairs needed.
  • Perform regular checks and services, detecting faults and flaws.
  • Replace and fit new sections or parts as necessary.
  • Improvise solutions when needed.
  • Travel between sites, often in remote areas and at unusual hours.
  • Work with specialized equipment for daily duties.
  • Maintain good physical health and fitness.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license at all times.
  • Follow all health and safety legislation.
  • Assist with part identification and support other divisions as required.

Field Service Technician

Education :

  • Higher Certificate / NQF5
  • Matric / NQF4
  • Specify : Trade Test and / or Technical Qualification (NQF 5), preferably including factory training in Earthmoving / Electrical Trade

Years of Experience :

Minimum 5 years related experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, especially in troubleshooting and solving electrical and mechanical problems.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Detects mechanical and electrical faults using specialized tooling and equipment.
  2. Repairs and maintains components and equipment.
  3. Follows work assignments received as general oral or written instructions.
  4. Determines the extent and nature of repairs needed.
