Field Service Engineer
Job Description
Your role : Responsible for following defined procedures and methodologies to install, configure, test, maintain, and support hardware and software solutions. This includes problem identification, system architecture definition/specification, implementation, basic integration, validation and verification testing, customer education, solution activation, and system restoration.
You are responsible for:
- Serving as the technical resource for implementing solutions that require analysis of situations or data, with an in-depth knowledge of the solution.
- Preparing site assessments.
- Providing technical review of system configurations to ensure system performance viability.
- Preparing as-built drawings to document work completed during projects or specific jobs.
- Resolving complex customer issues requiring independent judgment based on product knowledge and skills.
- Providing remote and on-site technical support to the installed customer base.
- Instructing customers in the operation and maintenance of Philips solutions.
- Performing regular maintenance, technical modifications, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Escalating any technical configurations that do not meet standards.
- Proactively suggesting process and product improvements based on site experiences and IT knowledge.
- Delivering customer projects that require analysis of situations and a full understanding of the solutions being implemented.
- Working independently with minimal instruction, often taking the lead in customer engagements.
- Using independent judgment to adapt to variances in customer environments for effective results.
- Completing assigned project activities responsibly within estimates and delivery methods.
- Collaborating with project managers, clinical application consultants, other engineers, third-party entities, and customer technical leads.
- Providing regular status updates on installation activities.
- Assisting in solution selling processes with Account Managers.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues remotely and on-site.
- Analyzing reported problems via Remote Service or direct contact, collaborating with support engineers to develop resolution plans, escalating complex issues, and communicating updates to customers and management.
Skills and Experience Needed:
- College degree or equivalent in Clinical, Electrical, or Computing Systems Engineering; Biomedical Engineering preferred.
- At least 5 years’ experience with CT, MRI, Image Guided Therapy, or Digital X-ray in a customer-facing role.
- Strong PC skills including Windows, Office, and basic networking.
- Ability to interpret test results and apply them to repairs.
- Willingness to attend overseas equipment training and travel occasionally for support.
- Availability for standby duty as per regional schedules.
- Strong customer focus, effective communication, problem-solving mindset, and teamwork skills.

Work Environment:
This is a field role. Office-based teams work at least 3 days/week onsite. Roles may require working at customer or supplier locations outside main facilities.
