About the role (summary)
As a Field Sales Representative you will be the face of the company in your assigned KZN territory. Your focus will be growing sales and market share for the companies wholesale product range (prescription & OTC, front-shop and complementary products) by building strong relationships with independent / community pharmacies, corporate retail pharmacies, dispensing doctors, and clinic / hospital pharmacy buyers. You’ll manage accounts, execute promotions, capture market intelligence and ensure an excellent customer experience from order to delivery.
Key responsibilities
Territory management : Manage and grow a defined territory of pharmacy and clinic accounts across KZN (calls per week / account segmentation).
Account growth & sales : Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets by upselling current lines, introducing new SKUs and driving promotional activity.
Customer relationships : Develop strong, trusted relationships with pharmacists, store managers and dispensing doctors; act as primary contact for product queries and service issues.
Merchandising & execution : Implement in-store / front shop merchandising and promotional plans; ensure planogram / promotion compliance where relevant.
Order support & follow-through : Liaise with internal operations (account management / distribution) to ensure accurate, timely fulfilment and resolution of shortfalls / claims.
Market intelligence : Collect competitor, pricing, stock-availability and demand intel; feed insights into the regional sales manager and marketing.
Product knowledge : Maintain thorough product knowledge across prescription generics, branded medicines, OTC, surgical and complementary products; brief customers on relevant clinical / benefit messages (within scope).
CRM & reporting : Keep CRM up to date (visit notes, orders, opportunities); submit weekly activity and pipeline reports.
Compliance & ethics : Work in line with the companies policies and South African healthcare / pharmaceutical regulations and ethical standards.
Training & collaboration : Participate in product training and collaborate with internal teams (promotions, customer service, warehouse).

Required experience & qualifications
Matric (Grade 12) required; tertiary qualification in sales, marketing, pharmacy assistance or related field preferred.
2–4 years proven field sales experience — preferably in pharmaceutical / healthcare / FMCG sales (wholesaler distribution experience strongly preferred).
Strong understanding of pharmacy workflows and customer types (community / corporate / dispensing doctors / clinic pharmacy).
Full valid South African driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for fieldwork.
Comfortable working independently, flexible to travel within KZN and occasional longer trips.
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Competent with MS Office; experience with CRM systems (Salesforce, Pipedrive or similar) an advantage.

Reporting line & working hours
Reports to : Regional / Area Sales Manager (KZN)
Working hours : Field hours with customer visits during normal trading hours; occasional after-hours for events or training as required.
