Responsibilities
- Operate the Main Plant, SMR Plant, and Tank Farm.
- Work independently to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
- Control field operations according to the operating manual.
- Transfer, dilute, and adjust products between stock tanks for different grades.
- Record plant conditions and analyses on log sheets; maintain daily, weekly, and monthly records of Tank Farm figures; document shift activities.
- Sample and inspect plant products regularly.
- Analyze plant samples at scheduled intervals, at least once per shift.
- Adjust plant settings to meet performance requirements.
- Monitor for abnormal conditions and faulty equipment.
- Operate complex machinery as required.
- Prepare for work clearance permits and monitor contractors, including filling out Hazardous Energy Isolation Procedures and locking out equipment.
- Inspect road tankers and ISO containers for damage or contamination; manage loading/unloading procedures safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards across the plant and Tank Farm.
- Prepare chemical batches (e.g., nitric acid, caustic soda, stabilizers, boiler chemicals).
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Responsible Care standards.
- Apply safe work systems proactively.
- Clean plant strainers and filters at least once per shift.
- Operate forklifts and pneumatic hoists as needed.
- Perform maintenance tasks promptly to avoid delays.
- Remain available for standby duties and be ready to respond when called.
- Read technical documents and P&ID drawings relevant to plant equipment.
Requirements
- Matric with National N6 Certificate in Chemical Engineering and minimum 5 years of experience in petrochemical/chemical plant operation.
- Or National Diploma in Chemical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience.
- Or BTech in Chemical Engineering with at least 3 years of experience.
- Preferably 1 year experience as a panel operator.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Own transport and valid driver’s license.
- Ability to perform calculations for dilutions and product adjustments.
- Experience in data analysis and plant equipment selection.
- Knowledge of valve applications and plant safety procedures.
- Ability to perform plant isolation tasks and participate in safety training.
